A Typical Task

These photographs show a typical ECV task - A thicket of blackthorn at Whitewebbs Park had become so dense that no other species could grow. ECV opened the area out to allow in light, and then dead-hedged the area to prevent it being trampled.

OvergrownThe area had become quite overgrown
ClearningIn amongst the blackthorn lay several old fallen trees that also needed clearing
DeadHeadingTo protect the cleared area a dead hedge was built around it
BlackthornECV cleared this much blackthorn, providing a great opportunity for wildlife. This cleared wood will not be wasted, but can be used in other dead-hedging.
TeaThe volunteers enjoy a good cup of tea, and survey their efforts.
